Taxpayers Federation calls on whistleblower to release more Calgary Olympic secrets

Author: Franco Terrazzano 2018/10/04

The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) is outlining a number of questions that Calgarians still need answered before they can make an informed vote on the Olympics.

“Fortunately a whistleblower within the city of Calgary has warned taxpayers that there are Olympic costs that have not been made public,” said Franco Terrazzano, Alberta Director with the CTF. “Efforts should be made to increase transparency rather than trying to crack down on someone who is providing taxpayers with the information they deserve.”

Details that Calgarians need to know before they vote include:

  • All costs associated with hosting the Olympics
  • How much each Calgary household is expected to pay
  • The Olympics debt repayment timeline
  • Other reports not made public
  • Financial projections for new facilities

“Calgarians don't have all the information they need to make an informed vote on November 13,” continued Terrazzano. "With other parties unwilling to provide all the details, it's up to the Olympics whistleblower to unveil the remaining secrets."
